The launch comes as Mistral accelerates its product initiatives, having spent December introducing the Mistral 3 family of open-weight models, as well as new coding tools called Devstral 2. With increasing pressure from American competitors such as OpenAI, which recently achieved a staggering $500 billion valuation, and Anthropic, which raised $13 billion in September, Mistral is poised to make significant strides, despite potential regulatory challenges from the U.S. regarding European technology firms.
Mistral's Chief Revenue Officer, Marjorie Janiewicz, highlighted that the OCR release addresses issues the company has identified while aiding enterprises in their AI deployments over the past year. "A lot of very large enterprises are still sitting on a very large volume of critical data that's not digitized yet," Janiewicz stated.
