**FSA Issues Food Safety Guidelines for Handling Food in Hot Weather**

**Food Safety Alert as People Advised on Four Actions for Hot Weather**
As summer approaches, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a food safety alert for the public. With rising temperatures, it’s important to ensure food is stored properly to avoid health risks. Picnics and barbecues are enjoyable summer activities but can lead to food safety issues if not done carefully.
The FSA recommends the following actions when handling food during hot weather:
1. Keep food in the fridge until it's time to eat.
2. Don’t leave food out in warm environments for long.
3. Use cooler bags with ice or frozen gel packs for transporting food.
4. When shopping, choose chilled and frozen items last. "If possible, pack them straight into cool bags with ice or frozen gel packs in them at the checkout or as you are shopping and scanning," advises the FSA.
These precautions are vital to prevent foodborne illnesses and ensure safe eating experiences during warm days.
