Sky and Virgin Media Advise Customers on Wi-Fi Setup for Christmas Season

# Sky and Virgin Media Urge UK Customers to Modify Wi-Fi Setups

## Check Your Router Settings Over Festive Interference

Sky and Virgin Media have recently alerted customers regarding potential interference with Wi-Fi signals during the Christmas season. This situation arises particularly due to Christmas decorations and the placement of Wi-Fi routers in homes across the UK.

The warnings suggest that traditional decorations like tinsel might obstruct signals because of their reflective properties. "Check where your WiFi hub is in relation to your Christmas tree," according to Sky, advising customers to remain vigilant about their setups. The company also emphasized that "??It might be a Christmas staple, but tinsel is made of shredded foil that can reflect your WiFi signal. Keep any tinsel on your tree away from your hub this Christmas, and definitely don't wrap your hub in it!"

Further recommendations include relocating routers if too many decorations are active. Sky stated, "If you've got a lot of Christmas decorations plugged in, or you've decorated your front garden like a grotto, move your WiFi hub to a different plug socket or extension cable to avoid interference." Virgin Media chimed in with a classic tip to resolve connectivity issues: "There's always the old favourite – turning it off and back on again."

Customers should consider these factors to maintain optimal Wi-Fi performance throughout the holidays.
