Carol Shares Personal Loss and the Need for Awareness of Motor Neurone Disease Symptoms
Carol recently shared her heartbreaking story about losing both her husband and brother to motor neurone disease (MND). She revealed that they showed "secret signs" of the illness before their diagnoses.
Her brother, Alex, passed away first. After his death, Carol was told her husband, Brian, had the same disease years later. "Hearing Brian's diagnosis...it was unbelievable as well as devastating," Carol said. She added that Brian spent several years "locked in" his bed, unable to move or eat.
Carol emphasized the challenges of MND, particularly its rarity. She noted that neither her husband nor brother had a genetic connection, making the situation even more shocking. Her experiences highlight the need for better awareness of MND’s symptoms and impacts.
