Vickie Doogan, a healthy and active individual, faced a shocking diagnosis of breast cancer. In a twist, her dog also received the same diagnosis shortly after. This unexpected situation led both to undergo mastectomies.
Vickie felt it was important to understand why this happened. "It made perfect sense to me; I was glad to have some reasoning behind it," she shared. Despite the challenges, both Vickie and her dog managed to recover well from their surgeries.
She expressed how the experience brought a sense of connection between them. "She bounced back just as well as I did, people said it's like she's mirroring how I dealt with it," Vickie explained. Now, Vickie is focusing on enjoying life again. She hopes to inspire others, reminding them that, "although breast cancer is scary, you can still live a really full life."
