Urgent Warning Issued for Brits as Storm Leonardo Approaches Spain and Portugal

# Urgent Warning for Brits in Spain and Portugal
## Severe Weather Conditions Ahead
An urgent alert has been issued to British citizens residing or vacationing in Spain and Portugal as the region braces for the impending Leonardo storm, expected to hit on February 4, 2026. This warning comes after a previous storm led to five fatalities in the area last week, prompting heightened vigilance.
The threat from severe weather has compelled southern Spain to close schools and implement safety measures. In Portugal, authorities are also on high alert, anticipating intense rainfall and potential flooding as conditions worsen. The storm is expected to cause significant disruption across the Iberian Peninsula.
Weather forecasters at Meteored have warned, "By the end of the coming early morning, very intense rain will begin in the west and far south of Andalucia. It will continue throughout the morning, spreading to the rest of the southern community. In the afternoon, the most intense precipitation will occur in the eastern area, from the Strait to Almeria, with a strong westerly maritime storm."
In response to these severe warnings, The Foreign Office guidance to travellers advises, "Once the event has happened, you should be aware of possible risks relating to damaged buildings or other infrastructure. Be aware that events in places away from where you are can still cause disruption, such as through loss of power, communications or transport services."
Residents and visitors should take necessary precautions, stay informed, and monitor local advisories to ensure safety during this weather event.
