UK Health Security Agency Warns of Increased Tick Bites During Easter Holiday, Advises Precautions for Outdoor Activities

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has advised people to take precautions while enjoying walks over the Easter holiday. This warning comes in light of an increase in tick bites during spring. Ticks can carry diseases such as Lyme disease, which can lead to serious health issues if not treated promptly.
People are urged to wear long sleeves and trousers when walking in grassy or wooded areas. This will help protect against tick bites. It is also recommended to check for ticks after being outdoors, especially around clothing and exposed skin.
"Many people's outdoor activities will be increasing this Easter, so it's important to be aware of tick bites," said the UKHSA.
In case of a tick bite, it is vital to remove the tick safely using fine-tipped tweezers and then monitor for any signs of illness afterward. If symptoms arise, individuals should contact their GP or the NHS for advice.
