FCDO Issues Travel Warning Over No-Go Zones in Turkey and Cyprus

# Turkey and Cyprus 'No-Go Zones' Alert as Foreign Office Revises Guidance
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has issued a travel advisory cautioning British nationals about potential no-go zones in Turkey and Cyprus. This update comes in light of ongoing security concerns in areas bordering Syria and threats of terrorism, particularly regarding Cyprus.
British tourists are specifically warned about heightened risks in Turkey due to "Fighting in Syria" which remains active "in areas close to the Turkish border and there is a heightened risk of terrorism in the region," according to the FCDO. Travellers planning to visit Hakkari province must obtain permission from the local Governor's Office if they intend to go near the borders with Iraq and Iran.
For those travelling in groups or with a travel agent, it’s important to verify whether an individual permit is required. Additionally, the FCDO emphasizes that "Terrorist attacks in Cyprus cannot be ruled out," indicating that vigilance is necessary for visitors to these regions.
In Cyprus, British nationals residing in the Sovereign Base Areas are advised to adhere to directives from the Sovereign Base Areas Administration. Similarly, those in the Republic of Cyprus should comply with any instructions issued by local authorities.
