Winslet, known for her talent and iconic roles, highlighted a significant memory involving a drama teacher. This teacher, whom many have mistakenly thought was male, had told her, “Well darling, you'll have a career if you're happy to settle for the fat girl parts.” This remark profoundly affected Winslet, contributing to her struggles with self-image throughout her youth.

In her discussion, Winslet acknowledged how these challenges led to unhealthy eating habits. “It was really unhealthy,” she admitted. She expressed that her preoccupation with her weight dominated her thoughts, stating, “It's the only thing in my life I really regret because you know, long-term, not eating properly or eating and panicking about what you'd eaten or waking up in the morning and the first thing I'd think about is, 'Oh my God, do I look fatter, do I look fatter?' That went on for a really long time,” as she shared with Lauren Laverne, the show's host.
