Two teenagers have been sentenced to time in a young offenders institution after they were found guilty of murdering 51-year-old Anthony Marks. The violent incident took place in Brighton, where the homeless man was attacked by the youths, who later shared selfies before and after the episode, showcasing a callous disregard for their actions.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the brutal assault happened in the early hours of the morning on March 14. Marks was targeted while he was sleeping rough, and the attack involved relentless kicking and punches, leading to fatal injuries.

Witnesses reported seeing the teenagers, aged 15 and 16 at the time, laughing and joking amidst the vicious assault. This was compounded by their sharing of selfies on social media, making their conduct seem even more reprehensible.

The judge emphasized the chilling nature of the crime, stating that it demonstrated both a lack of empathy and a need for serious punishment. The older of the two, now 17, received a sentence of 18 years, while the younger accomplice, now 16, was sentenced to 15 years.

In a shocking aftermath of the attack, police extended their appeals for witnesses to step forward, underlining the need for community involvement in preventing such outrageous acts.

The two teens’ actions not only led to the tragic death of Marks but also serve as a stark reminder of societal issues surrounding youth violence and the treatment of vulnerable individuals.
