Travel Expert Simon Calder Alerts 1.2 Million Brits on New Passport Rules

# Simon Calder warns 1.2 million Brits to adhere to new passport regulations or face entry denial

Travel expert Simon Calder has alerted over 1.2 million British citizens to new passport regulations that could hinder their travel into the UK. This warning comes as part of a recent change in legislation affecting how individuals prove their nationality upon entering the country.

The Home Office has made it clear that British nationals are now mandated to show proof of their British citizenship when arriving in the UK from certain countries. “Prove you are British or you can't come in,” said the travel expert, emphasizing the ramifications for those unaware of this shift.

This new legislation specifically impacts individuals with dual citizenship. According to the Home Office, "People with dual citizenship for the UK and one of those [non-visa] countries can no longer simply use their foreign passport to travel to the UK." Nationals from countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, as well as EU Member States, fall under this classification. British-Irish dual nationals are an exception, as they can continue using their Irish passports for unrestricted travel.

Lord Hanson, a minister at the Home Office, stated that these modifications are “part of plans to modernise and digitise the UK's border and immigration system by providing a much clearer picture of who intends to travel to the UK for short periods... strengthening security and ensuring a smoother travel experience.”

With this development, travelers planning to head to the UK should review their documentation to avoid any disruptions.
