# Sarah Beeny Issues Emotional Statement on Death Fears

Sarah Beeny, the well-known television presenter, has opened up about her concerns regarding mortality, particularly in relation to her health struggles. In a candid discussion, she revealed her previously outdated perceptions of cancer and her journey with a hereditary condition.

Beeny expressed that her views on cancer were "40 years out of date." She stated, "I thought cancer equalled a coffin. I'm not saying there aren't unbelievably tragic stories, because there are, but now the gap between diagnosis and the coffin is much wider." This insight comes after her diagnosis with a genetic trait known as PALB2, which raises the likelihood of developing breast cancer. Upon receiving medical advice, she chose to undergo a bilateral mastectomy, reflecting on the advancements in surgical procedures, saying, "Surgery is extraordinary now."

In her statement, Beeny addressed the significant progress made in cancer treatment and how it contrasts sharply with the fears that once dominated her thoughts. She remains focused on raising awareness about these health issues while challenging outdated beliefs surrounding cancer treatment and outcomes.
