Norwegian Royals Address Rape Charges Against Princess's Son, Defend Parenting Choices

# Royals Speak Out on Rape Charges Against Princess's Son: 'Don't Blame Us'
## Family defends their parenting amid serious accusations
The Norwegian royal family has addressed the serious charges against Marius Borg Hoiby, the son of Princess Mette-Marit. In recent statements, they made their position clear, asserting they do not deserve blame for the unfolding drama.
Princess Mette-Marit expressed the emotional toll of these accusations. "I think it's been quite a strain to be accused of such serious things, which of course I did not do," she stated. She also shared her frustration regarding criticism of their parenting, saying, "The thing that perhaps upsets me the most is being criticised for how we've handled it as parents, that we didn't take it seriously. I find that hard."
Mette-Marit emphasized that the family has taken the allegations seriously, remarking, "So it feels a little unfair [to claim] that we didn't take the situation seriously, because I think we have." She acknowledged the vulnerabilities inherent in parenthood, saying that "Being a parent is the most vulnerable thing you can do. And I think all parents will recognise that there is an incredible amount of self-blame involved."
Queen Sonja added that the matter is now in the judicial system, stating, "But now it is in the hands of the court. Then we will take what comes."
