Research Suggests Eggs May Not Raise LDL Cholesterol and Could Benefit Heart Health

Including certain foods in your diet can help lower bad cholesterol levels. One such item is eggs, which may benefit heart health more than previously thought.
Recent studies suggest that "eggs might not contribute to high levels of LDL cholesterol as previously thought," according to Harvard Health. Instead, research indicates that the saturated fat one consumes is more concerning for overall health.
Eggs offer a unique blend of nutrients. They are rich in dietary cholesterol but low in saturated fat. Research shows that "egg consumption does not adversely affect blood lipids or increase cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk." In fact, some studies indicate that eggs might even provide heart benefits. This could be linked to eggs improving HDL cholesterol levels or their high choline content, which can positively influence lipid metabolism.
Furthermore, it has been noted that "these compounds can cross the blood–brain barrier, potentially altering neuronal function and increasing physical activity," which may also aid in raising HDL cholesterol.
