Police Forces Launch Innovative 'Magnetic Hijabs' to Boost Muslim Recruitment

# Police Forces Introduce 'Magnetic Hijabs' to Attract Muslim Recruits
## Unique headgear aims to enhance inclusivity within police departments
In a groundbreaking initiative, Leicestershire Police has launched the Blue Light Hijab®, developed in collaboration with designers from De Montfort University. This innovative hijab is designed to bolster recruitment efforts among the Muslim community within police forces.
The magnetic hijab features a unique design for improved functionality and comfort, allowing female Muslim officers to wear this headgear while ensuring it aligns with their cultural and religious beliefs. This development is part of ongoing efforts to make police forces more representative of the communities they serve.
This initiative allows for a more inclusive environment, showcasing a commitment to diversity within law enforcement agencies. Detective Sergeant Desai previously noted, “We saw the New Zealand hijab and liked the look of it, so got in contact, built a really good relationship, and have been trialling it for a number of weeks.”
The magnetic hijab not only offers practical benefits but also demonstrates a significant outreach strategy to engage with the Muslim community, fostering trust and understanding. This move could lead to a more diverse workforce that reflects the population, enhancing community relations in the process.
