Pharmacist Advises Against Multivitamins, Suggests Personalized Nutrient Testing Instead

# Pharmacist Explains Why He Avoids Recommending Multivitamins
A pharmacist has shared his reasons for not advising customers to take multivitamins. In a social media video, he highlighted that these supplements may not be beneficial for everyone.
The pharmacist, Amir, pointed out that multivitamins often contain excess or insufficient amounts of the vitamins needed. "They usually have too much of what you need or not enough of what you need," he explained. Instead of relying on multivitamins, Amir suggests that individuals get a blood test to identify specific deficiencies. He stated, "Instead, we recommend getting a blood test, figuring out exactly what you're deficient in, and getting vitamins of just those."
He emphasized that multivitamins "aren't always the answer." Amir added that it’s important to pinpoint what one’s body may lack and to select supplements that suit individual needs. According to the NHS, "Most people should get all the nutrients they need by having a varied and balanced diet, although some people may need to take extra supplements." This guidance highlights the role of a balanced diet in obtaining necessary nutrients.
The pharmacist's advice encourages a more tailored approach to nutrition instead of the one-size-fits-all solution that multivitamins often provide.
