Pharmacist Highlights Prolonged Tiredness as Possible Indicator of Thyroid Imbalance

# Pharmacist Warns 'Normal' Feelings Might Signal Thyroid Issues

A pharmacist has raised concerns that a common feeling of tiredness could indicate an underlying thyroid imbalance. Niamh, a pharmacist, stated that it’s typical to feel more fatigued during the winter months. However, prolonged tiredness may point to something more serious.

Niamh explained, “Feeling a little more tired during winter is normal." She added, “But when exhaustion becomes constant and affects concentration, mood or daily functioning, it can be a red flag that something isn't quite right internally."

She noted that low energy can often be due to nutrient deficiencies, including iron, vitamin B12, and vitamin D. These nutrients are vital for energy production and overall health.

The thyroid gland plays a key role in regulating metabolism and energy levels. Niamh pointed out, “When it's underactive, people may experience persistent fatigue, brain fog, weight changes and sensitivity to cold."

For anyone with these symptoms, seeking advice from a GP or health professional is advised.
