UKHSA Warns of Increased Norovirus Cases as Transmission Risk Rises

## New UKHSA Alert for Sickness Bug as Spread Becomes ‘Easier’
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a warning about a rise in cases of norovirus, a highly contagious stomach bug. This alert comes as the virus is said to transmit more easily. Officials are encouraging the public to be aware of symptoms and to take preventive measures.
Norovirus often leads to vomiting and diarrhoea, typically lasting up to three days. The agency reports that outbreaks are common this time of year, particularly in crowded places like hospitals and care homes. An increased number of cases have been confirmed in recent weeks, prompting the health body to alert the public.
“People should remain vigilant and follow health guidelines to prevent spreading the virus,” said a UKHSA spokesperson. The public is advised to wash their hands frequently, especially after using the toilet and before eating or preparing food.
If someone experiences severe symptoms or dehydration, they should reach out to their GP or contact NHS 111 for guidance. Witnesse of outbreaks or those with concerns are encouraged to report the situation to local health authorities.
