Couple Shares Story of Their Daughter's Disability Following Mismanaged Pregnancy Symptoms

Anna and her fiancé Iain Lewis have shared a heart-wrenching story about their daughter, Genevieve, who is now three years old and disabled for life. This situation began during Anna's pregnancy, when her severe symptoms were mistakenly attributed to "just a virus."
Anna explained that she felt extremely unwell and anxious but was advised by her GP to remain at home. "Despite explaining how unwell and frightened I felt, I was advised to stay at home. I was told I could return to A&E if I felt I couldn't cope, which I did. I was then admitted to the Emergency Medical Unit, where I was largely isolated, not allowed visitors and left without access to basic washing facilities."
As a result of this oversight, Genevieve was born with serious disabilities, impacting her ability to walk and speak. The couple is now bringing awareness to the issue, hoping that no other family has to experience a similar ordeal. They stress the importance of seeking proper medical attention and advocating for oneself during pregnancy complications.
This tragic case highlights the need for better understanding and responses to health concerns during pregnancy.
