Motorists Urged to Remove Medications from Cars as Heatwave Approaches

### Motorists Advised to Remove Medications from Cars Ahead of Hot Weather

Drivers have been strongly advised to take medications out of their vehicles ahead of rising temperatures expected midweek. The warning comes as forecasters predict a significant increase in heat.

Weather reports indicate that while northern regions may continue to see some rainfall, the rest of the UK can expect dry and sunny skies, possibly leading to hotter conditions. "Further rain or showers affect northern areas, though generally less heavy. Cloudy in Northern Ireland and northwest England with patchy drizzle. Elsewhere dry and sunny, feeling very warm to hot," noted the Met Office on Tuesday.

Public health experts caution that medications stored in vehicles during the heat can become less effective. Rhysa states, "Most medications should be stored in a cool, dry place. Exposing them to high temperatures in parked cars, direct sunlight, or humid bathrooms can cause them to degrade and fail to work properly. Always check your patient information leaflet for specific storage instructions, stay well hydrated, apply high-factor sunscreen, and definitely speak to a pharmacist if your medicine changes colour, smell, or texture."

Motorists are encouraged to ensure the safety and effectiveness of their medications by removing them from their cars, particularly as the weather warms up. Safety measures and proper storage are essential in maintaining the integrity of these vital items.
