Explosion in Monaco Declared an Attack as Four Injured and Suspect Evades Capture

# Monaco Explosion: 'Attack' Shakes Luxury Destination as Suspect Escapes

An explosion occurred in Monaco, causing chaos in the holiday hotspot. Reports suggest this incident was an attack, with the police confirming suspicions regarding its nature.

The explosion took place earlier this evening, leading to a significant emergency response. Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud bang that initially prompted mixed reactions among locals and tourists, many thinking it was merely fireworks.

Nice Mayor Eric Ciotti commented on the situation, stating, "The attack carried out this evening is a tragedy that strikes Monaco. Thoughts for the victims, their families, and the people of Monaco. Total support for the security forces and emergency services mobilised."

Four individuals were reported injured in the blast, according to Minister of State Christophe Mirmand. The police indicated that this incident is likely classified as an attack, which is especially alarming given that "this is the first time in history, to my knowledge, that such an act has occurred in the Principality," underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

Witness Marine Cotta described her experience, saying, "I thought to myself, oh, it's just another firework, and shortly after I started receiving messages to see how I was doing." As the sound of alarms and emergency vehicles filled the air, her initial dismissal shifted to a recognition that something significant was unfolding.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident and are on the lookout for any suspects involved.
