Met Office Alerts 17 UK Areas for Snow This Week

# Met Office Names 17 UK Areas Facing Snow on Wednesday and Thursday

The Met Office has identified 17 locations in the UK that are likely to experience snowfall on Wednesday and Thursday. This weather warning comes as temperatures are expected to plunge, particularly in northern regions.

A mix of rain, sleet, and hail showers will be prevalent across the country, with snow anticipated over higher ground to the north. According to the Met Office, “By Wednesday, it will feel markedly colder across all parts, with rain, sleet and hail showers potentially quite widely, and snow likely over higher ground in the north.” As a result, many areas can anticipate a blustery day, although some sunshine may break through the clouds. However, the combination of temperatures and wind chill will make it feel significantly colder.

Nights are expected to get particularly chilly, with temperatures potentially dropping to -5C in rural areas of Scotland. Following this, a widespread frost is anticipated overnight, likely leading to icy conditions in the north on Thursday morning.

The regions specifically warned are poised for challenging weather, with residents urged to prepare accordingly as the wintry conditions set in.
