Martin Lewis Urges Mobile Users to Check Contracts for Potential Savings

**Mobile users urged to act swiftly to enhance savings**
Martin Lewis, the founder of MoneySavingExpert, has issued an urgent call to mobile phone users, suggesting they send a specific four-letter word via text to potentially secure significant savings. This advice comes as millions are likely unaware of their current contract status with mobile providers.
Lewis highlighted that, with simple action, consumers can check if they are still tied to contracts or if they have the opportunity to switch to more favourable options. He emphasized that many users might be paying unnecessary charges while they could easily break away to find cheaper plans. "Cancellation Charge," explained Lewis, indicates that a contract may have reached its end, signalling that consumers could benefit from exploring other avenues.
In his presentation, he noted the dramatic shifts in pricing trends over the last couple of years. "Prices have been going up and up. At the same time the cost of new customer SIM deals have been plummeting. For 50GB two years ago you'd have been paying £9. Now you can get it as cheap as about £3 a month," Lewis stated, highlighting this disparity is crucial for consumers to recognise.
Furthermore, he showed a diagram that illustrated the widening gap between existing customers and new ones. "Look at that dispersal - you've got existing customers going up and up and up and new customers going down and down and down," he remarked, indicating the urgent need for current subscribers to reassess their mobile plans.
For anyone wishing to investigate their options further, Lewis advised them to "go to a cheap SIM comparison site," ensuring that people can make informed choices and get the best value for their money.
