Martin Lewis Highlights Common Radiator Mistake Increasing Energy Bills

# Martin Lewis Reveals Common Radiator Error That May Be Inflating Your Energy Bills
### The issue has a straightforward resolution
Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has highlighted a prevalent mistake many make regarding radiator usage. This error, which can lead to unnecessary spikes in energy costs, can be easily rectified.
Lewis advises homeowners to adjust their heating settings for different rooms. "You can simply go round the house and turn down the radiators in the rooms you don't want to heat," says the Money Saving Expert. This practice helps avoid wasting energy on spaces that are not in use.
An essential feature often overlooked is the thermostatic radiator valve (TRV). Most modern TRVs come with a frost prevention setting, usually marked with a snowflake symbol. Lewis explains, “Most thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) have a frost prevention setting – usually a snowflake symbol. So when the valve is fully turned off, it'll still let a small amount of hot water through to prevent pipes from freezing.” For homes without TRVs, it’s crucial to avoid fully turning off radiators, as this could potentially lead to burst pipes in harsh winter conditions.
Making these small adjustments can lead to significant savings on energy bills while ensuring your home remains warm and safe during the colder months.
