M1 Delays: Three Lanes Closed Due to Ongoing Emergency Repairs

### M1 Traffic Update: Delays and Congestion Plague Drivers

Late-night motorists on the M1 are facing significant disruptions due to severe traffic conditions caused by road repairs. National Highways has reported that three out of four lanes are closed on the southbound stretch between Junction 21A (Leicester) and Junction 21 (M69), resulting in approximately two miles of congestion.

The disruptions began earlier this week as emergency repairs were initiated to rectify issues with the road surface. This intervention has caused delays, with an additional 20 minutes being added to usual journey times.

National Highways East Midlands provided an update outlining the ongoing situation, stating, "3 lanes of 4 are closed on the #M1 southbound between J21A #Leicester and J21 (#M69) while emergency repairs are carried out to the road surface. There is around 2 miles of congestion on approach, which is adding about 20 minutes to normal journey times."

Motorists are advised to ensure they have alternative routes planned to avoid the ongoing delays on this critical motorway.
