Lightning Strikes Spark Fires in East Sussex Amid UK Thunderstorms

# Lightning Strikes Cause Fires in East Sussex Homes as Storms Sweep Across the UK
Lightning strikes sparked fires in two homes in East Sussex as thunderstorms impacted the UK. The incidents occurred earlier this week, affecting properties in Battle, where quick response from firefighters mitigated the damage.
Local fire services reported that one strike hit a building on Thursday evening, igniting the rooftop. Crews swiftly arrived to combat the flames. A second strike caused a separate fire in the same vicinity. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The thunderstorms developed as weather conditions shifted across the UK. The Met Office indicated that southeastern England would experience warmer temperatures, maintaining an amber extreme heat warning throughout much of Saturday. "The UK is seeing a gradual shift in conditions over the weekend, with those to the southeast of England retaining the warmth the longest," noted Met Office chief forecaster Andy Page, with expected peaks reaching the low 30s Celsius.
Authorities remain vigilant as thunderstorms may continue to pose risks, and residents are urged to be cautious during such weather.
