Gatwick Airport Links Drop-Off Fee Increase to Rachel Reeves's Policies

## Huge UK Airport Blames Rachel Reeves for Drop-Off Fee Price Hike

Gatwick Airport has recently attributed its rise in drop-off fees to policies proposed by Rachel Reeves, a prominent Labour politician. The fee, which is levied for those dropping off passengers, has increased to £5 for a 10-minute period. This change comes as part of broader financial pressures faced by the airport.

The increase has been implemented recently, further aggravating concerns among travelers and local residents. Gatwick Airport, located just south of London, has stated that the fee hike is necessary to manage escalating operational costs, particularly citing a sharp rise in business rates.

In a statement related to the decision, a spokeswoman for the West Sussex airport noted, "This increase in the drop-off charge is not a decision we have taken lightly. However, we are facing a number of increasing costs, including a more than doubling of our business rates. The increase in the drop-off charge will support wider efforts to encourage greater use of public transport, helping limit the number of cars and reduce congestion at the entrance to our terminals, alongside funding a number of sustainable transport initiatives."

The airport's move has sparked criticism and concern among travelers, fearing it may deter people from using the airport, given the increased overall costs of air travel.
