Foreign Office Updates Travel Guidance as Greece Drops Biometric Checks for UK Visitors

# Foreign Office Issues Travel Update for Greece as Hotspot Drops EU Requirement

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has provided an important update for British travelers heading to Greece. The announcement comes after Greek authorities declared that they will not collect biometric data, such as fingerprints and photographs, from UK visitors. This change is part of the new Entry/Exit System (EES) rules.

This update reveals that tourists can enter Greece without the additional biometric checks previously expected as part of the EES. Travelers are advised to adhere to local directives from officials upon their arrival. “Greek authorities have indicated that they will not collect biometric data (fingerprints and photos) for UK travellers as part of EES," according to the FCDO.

Britons living in Greece are reminded to present their residence documentation at passport control to prevent any issues with registration in the EES. This update aims to streamline the travel experience for UK citizens visiting this popular European destination.
