Health Experts Advise Caution for Ear Health During UK Heatwave

### Health Expert Issues Urgent Warning About Heatwave Effects on Ears
As summer heatwaves hit the UK, experts are advising people to be mindful of their ear health. High temperatures can affect not only the skin but also ear conditions.
Kayleigh, a professional in ear health, explained that "high temperatures and increased physical activity during the summer period mean that dehydration is more common this time of year." This is important because our bodies rely on water, and not drinking enough can lead to dehydration. Dehydration can negatively impact many functions in the body, including those related to the inner ear.
Sun exposure also poses risks. "Sunburn is one of the things that doesn't just feel painful and uncomfortable, but it can also have a big impact on our ear health," said a Boots Hearingcare expert. Sunburn is mainly a skin issue, which can raise the risk of skin cancer, but it can also worsen tinnitus symptoms.
Water in the ears can lead to problems too. Kayleigh noted, "As ear wax is water repellent, having water in your ear isn't too much of a problem health-wise, and will usually end up trickling out on its own." However, if water remains trapped, it can cause infections like swimmer's ear, which may lead to more serious ear issues.
