EasyJet Introduces Free Extra Cabin Bag for Passengers with Medical Needs

# EasyJet’s '48-Hour Rule' Provides Passengers with Medical Needs a Free Additional Cabin Bag

EasyJet has implemented a new policy catering to passengers with medical conditions, allowing them to receive a complimentary extra cabin bag if they notify the airline 48 hours before their flight. This initiative aims to better accommodate those who may require additional items related to health conditions during travel.

The policy officially came into effect on 12 October 2025, and it represents a significant move towards enhancing accessibility for travelers with specific medical requirements. To qualify for this allowance, passengers must inform EasyJet of their situation within the specified timeframe.

Passengers with health issues often need to carry medication and medical equipment. The airline stated, "If you pack medicines in your hold luggage, we do not require a letter from your healthcare practitioner. However, we do advise you to pack your medication in your hand luggage where possible, especially if it is medication that you may need to take during the flight."

This move is particularly beneficial for those who may need items like nebulisers, which assist with respiratory difficulties. The NHS explains, "A nebuliser can help to loosen phlegm (mucus), making it easier to cough up. This can help clear your airway and may make the delivery of radiotherapy treatment more comfortable."

The introduction of this rule highlights EasyJet's commitment to ensuring that all passengers travel comfortably and safely, particularly those who face challenges due to their medical conditions.
