DWP Announces Update to Attendance Allowance for Older Individuals

## DWP Attendance Allowance Application Update for Older People
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced a crucial update regarding Attendance Allowance, a vital benefit for older individuals in need of assistance. This non-means-tested, tax-free allowance currently enables eligible claimants to receive weekly payments of either £72.65 or £108.55.
Pensions Minister Torsten Bell stated that the DWP aims to "speed up and streamline the processing of new Attendance Allowance claims." This initiative is designed to improve efficiency and ensure that older individuals receive the support they require in a timely manner. The push for a quicker processing system is also "supported by increasing uptake of the new digital application route," according to Bell.
The Department continuously evaluates Attendance Allowance processing times, recognizing that timely decisions are critical, especially for older people confronting significant medical treatments. In a recent response to Nottingham East MP, Bell reassured that the DWP remains committed to addressing these essential needs as a priority.
