Drivers Advised to Keep Phones Inside Amid Cold Weather Risks

# Drivers Urged to Keep Phones Inside During Cold Weather
## Tech experts warn about risks to devices in winter conditions
With frigid temperatures gripping the country this week, drivers are being cautioned against leaving their mobile phones in vehicles. Tech experts have highlighted potential damages that cold weather can inflict on smartphones, particularly those of Apple and Android brands.
During cold weather, mobile devices may exhibit unexpected behaviors due to temperature regulation processes. "Low- or high-temperature conditions may cause your device to change its behaviour to regulate its temperature," Apple experts stated. Such fluctuations can compromise a phone's functionality and battery performance.
As winter sets in, drivers need to be vigilant. Phones left outside in the cold can suffer from permanent damage when brought indoors. “This can cause permanent water damage to your phone once you bring it in from the cold, due to chemical reactions inside your device,” explained tech analyst Burkinshaw.
Moreover, if a phone has been exposed to frigid conditions for an extended period, it is crucial to let it warm to room temperature before charging. According to Burkinshaw, “If you do leave your phone out in the cold for a prolonged period, be sure to allow it to come back up to room temperature before you charge it again to avoid condensation seeping in.”
Taking these precautions can minimize the risk of damaging valuable technology this winter season.
