Energy Costs Set to Rise After June 30, Experts Urge Savings Measures

Energy costs are expected to rise significantly after June 30, prompting calls for households to adopt measures to save money. Experts suggest that turning off appliances on standby during the night could lead to annual savings of between £60 and £100.

Gareth Kloet, an energy spokesperson at GoCompare, noted the erratic nature of energy pricing. "The cost of energy is very volatile. At the moment, we see the regulator change the price cap quite significantly every three months, and the outlook at the moment is that the cost of energy will rise after this current price cap comes to a conclusion on June 30," he stated.

As the UK faces higher bills, managing energy consumption efficiently becomes crucial. By simply switching off devices that remain in standby mode overnight, families can expect to see a significant reduction in their energy usage. "Estimates vary quite dramatically, depending on what the cost of electricity is, but it's not unusual for you to be able to save £60 to £100 a year by switching things off standby every night," Kloet explained.

Such measures not only alleviate financial pressure but also contribute to overall energy conservation. As the July price rise approaches, residents are encouraged to evaluate their energy habits to mitigate increased living expenses.
