Southend Toby Carvery Faces Backlash Over Fly Infestation Concerns

A Toby Carvery located on Prince Avenue in Southend has sparked outrage among diners due to a widespread fly infestation. Customers have taken to social media to express their disgust following a recent visit, where they found flies swarming over surfaces and food.
Reports surfaced earlier this week from multiple patrons, including Andy Lee, who recounted, “Four of us met at this restaurant for a midweek birthday meal. As mentioned by previous customers, the fly problem is off the charts and so disgusting. Kept landing on our heads and near our plates.” Rachel Hull also chimed in, describing the situation as “disgusting,” stating that “flies absolutely everywhere, crawling over tables, cutlery and napkins ready to be used. Menus and cushions were filthy. I dread to think what the food preparation areas are like.”
The Toby Carvery chain has acknowledged the complaints from customers, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining a “family-friendly, relaxed atmosphere.” The establishment has asserted that they are taking “appropriate steps to remedy the situation” in response to the uproar.
As the community reacts to the conditions at this popular venue, the chain faces the challenge of restoring customer trust and ensuring health standards are met.
