Cardiologist Recommends 4 Fruits to Lower Heart Disease Risk

# Cardiologist Lists 4 Fruits to Help Reduce Heart Disease Risk
A healthy diet can lower the chance of heart disease, according to cardiologists. They highlight the importance of adding more fruit to your meals for better heart health.
Cardiologist David Min, MD, emphasizes that, "A number of studies have shown that eating more fruit can lower your risk of a heart attack, stroke or death from cholesterol disease." He suggests that certain fruits are particularly beneficial. They are a great source of healthy fats, which help manage cholesterol levels. “A great source of monounsaturated fatty acids, which is a heart-healthy fat that lowers bad LDL cholesterol and increases good HDL cholesterol,” said Dr. Min.
Dr. Min also mentions how fruits act like guardians for blood vessels. “Think of them as guardians of your blood vessels: they can help lower blood pressure, improve the flexibility of your arteries and increase HDL cholesterol, which helps protect your arteries,” he explained.
Fellow cardiologist Audrey T Damren adds that fruits provide vital compounds called flavanones. She states these compounds “have been shown to help lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol levels, reduce inflammation and support healthy blood sugar regulation, which are all important factors in reducing cardiovascular risk.”
Incorporating these fruits into your diet could be a simple yet effective way to promote heart health.
