New £13 Tax for UK Tourists on Calais Booze Cruises Proposed by France

# Brits on Calais Booze Cruises to Face New £13 Fee Under New France Law
A new tax scheme is poised to impact British travelers engaging in booze cruises from Dover to Calais. The French government is set to approve a £13 fee for passengers arriving on cruise ships, directly affecting those taking short trips across the English Channel.
This tax aims to address various concerns, including fiscal and ecological balance. “This would re-establish fiscal and ecological fairness, shift responsibility onto polluters, and would enable us to sustainably finance the preservation of our coastlines,” stated Senator Jean-Marc Délia, outlining the intentions behind the fee.
The proposed measure comes in the wake of growing apprehension about the environmental implications of large cruise vessels. The Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, has previously expressed his frustrations, saying, “I cannot stand seeing huge cruise ships in the bay of Villefranche, these massive floating buildings with their effects on overtourism [and] pollution.”
As this new tax comes closer to realization, British tourists planning to indulge in these trips should prepare for the additional cost during their travels to France.
