Urgent Alert Issued as Long Covid Cases Rise in the UK, Highlighting Breathlessness as a Common Symptom

Britons are receiving an urgent alert as long Covid cases continue to climb across the UK. Breathlessness is highlighted as one of the most common symptoms for those affected.
For some individuals, everyday activities such as walking upstairs or taking a shower can lead to worsening symptoms. "For some, walking upstairs, having a shower or even the psychological drain of a conversation can trigger a relapse and the after-effects can last weeks," explained Professor Faghy, pointing out the serious nature of post-exertion malaise associated with long Covid.
Officials from the NHS have stated that COVID-19 presents a higher risk for older individuals and those with specific health issues. "COVID-19 is more serious in older people and in people with certain underlying health conditions. For these reasons, people aged 75 years and over, those in care homes, and those aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system are being offered a spring dose of COVID-19 vaccine," the NHS noted.
As cases of long Covid rise, health experts continue to urge those experiencing symptoms to seek medical advice. This serves as a reminder of the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the health of many.
