Brian May Recalls Disagreement with Freddie Mercury Over Song Lyrics

# Brian May Reveals Disagreement with Freddie Mercury Over Iconic Song Lyric
Brian May, the legendary guitarist of Queen, has opened up about a notable disagreement he had with Freddie Mercury regarding the lyrics of one of their iconic songs. May recounted the moment when he confronted Mercury about a particular line, stating, "I remember berating Freddie for saying that he was travelling at the speed of light. I go: 'Freddie, you cannot travel at the speed of light. I'm sorry'. And he said, 'I don't f****** care' - sorry for my French, but you can't really quote Freddie without using those words."
May described the creative clash further, noting that while he envisioned the song as a balanced mix of guitar and piano, Mercury had a distinct vision. "Freddie saw it very much as a piano song, a la Elton John, really. Powerhouse piano, powerhouse vocal, and that's it. So I played lots of rhythm guitar on it, and Freddie still said, 'No, no, no, no – it's a piano song!' That was a bit disappointing," May reflected.
The guitarist emphasized that the essence of their artistic partnership was rooted in fun and joy. "But you know, it's all about fun and joy," he concluded, highlighting the playful nature of their artistic collaboration despite their disagreements.
