Brenda Blethyn Opens Up About Emotions After Leaving ITV's Vera

**Brenda Blethyn Reveals Emotions After Departing ITV's Vera**

Brenda Blethyn, the star of ITV's hit series *Vera*, has opened up about her feelings after concluding her role in the long-running drama. Having played the titular character for fourteen series, Blethyn expressed a mixture of relief and excitement as she transitions to new projects.

She shared her thoughts on wrapping up the popular show, noting, "It was nice to hang up the mac and hat. It really, really was." This statement reflects her satisfaction in stepping away from *Vera*, a role that defined a significant part of her acting career. She confirmed that moving on felt refreshing after immersing herself deeply in the role for so long.

In her next venture, Blethyn launched her second project post-*Vera*, titled *A Woman Of Substance*. She explained her eagerness to embrace different opportunities, saying, "Because I did that for so long, it really was very nice to [do something else]. I did another job in between *Vera* and this, which was a film called *Dragonfly*, but this was hot on the heels [of that], and I was thrilled to be asked to do it." This demonstrates her passion for new acting challenges and a clear desire to explore diverse roles.

Blethyn had previously talked about “ruling the roost” on the set of *Vera*, indicating her strong presence in the show. Yet, as she turns the page, her focus is now on embracing the future with enthusiasm.
