Regular Bean Consumption Associated with Improved Longevity, According to Expert

### Expert Highlights 'Superfood' for Longevity

A longevity expert has identified a key food that people should consume daily for better health. This food is particularly prominent in regions known as Blue Zones, where populations tend to live significantly longer lives.

According to Dan, these areas have populations that eat beans regularly. "The long-lived populations in these blue zones eat at least four times as many beans as we do, on average. One five-country study, financed by the World Health Organisation, found that eating 20 grams of beans daily reduced a person's risk of dying in any given year by about eight per cent," he noted. This statistic underscores how beneficial beans can be for longevity.

Beans also provide substantial satisfaction in meals. "And because beans are so hearty and satisfying, they'll likely push less healthy foods out of your diet. Moreover, the high fibre content in beans helps healthy probiotics flourish in the gut," he further explained. This suggests that incorporating beans into daily meals not only supports longevity but also promotes overall digestive health.

Eating beans can play a crucial role in improving one's diet and enhancing life expectancy.
