Army Sends Medical Team to British Territory Over Hantavirus Concerns

# Army Deploys Medical Team to British Territory Amid Hantavirus Concerns
A contingent of six paratroopers, alongside an RAF consultant and an Army nurse from the 16 Air Assault Brigade, has been dispatched to a British territory in response to rising hantavirus fears. This deployment comes as health concerns intensify regarding potential transmission within the population.
The medical team was parachuted onto the territory on Sunday morning, focusing on priming health protocols and preparations for possible outbreaks. The move stems from caution over recent reports related to hantavirus, a disease that can be transmitted via rodent droppings.
Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper underscored the government's commitment, stating, "all members of the British family" will be protected. This reassures the public about the proactive measures being taken.
Health officials have indicated that the risk of hantavirus remains very low. As part of the response strategy, British passengers arriving in Tenerife will be repatriated and required to isolate at a hospital previously designated as the UK's Covid quarantine site, as confirmed by the UK Health Security Agency.
