Consult Your Doctor About Blood Tests for Chronic Fatigue and Memory Issues

## Always 'Tired and Forgetful' - Ask a Doctor for This Test

People often feel tired and forgetful without any clear reason. If this happens regularly, it's wise to consult a doctor. A blood test could shed light on what might be causing these symptoms.

Doctors recommend checking for specific markers in blood tests. In particular, iron levels are important. Many people believe they have enough iron, but they might have unmeasured 'storage iron' issues. "If you've been told that your iron is normal - but you still feel exhausted, forgetful and have a low mood - this is what you should ask your doctor to check on your blood panels. The first thing to drop isn't iron in the blood, it's the 'storage iron'," an expert indicated.

One crucial test is for ferritin, as it measures stored iron. However, ferritin levels can be misleading if there is inflammation in the body. Dr. Rajan shared, "Ferritin can be falsely high if inflammation is present. You need a combination of CRP and ferritin for accuracy. Haemoglobin and MCV are late-stage markers and often the last to fall."

Therefore, it is beneficial to ensure that various markers are checked to gain a full picture of one’s iron status.
