EE Users Alerted to Scam Text About Expiring Reward Points

# EE Phone Users Warned About Urgent Scam Texts
EE phone users are being put on alert about a new text message scam that could endanger their sensitive information. Reports have emerged that the scam involves messages claiming that users have 12,739 EE reward points set to expire in three days. The warning comes as customers are urged to be vigilant against potential fraud attempts.
The situation is particularly concerning as scammers are reportedly impersonating EE and employing clever tactics to deceive users. "If you just got a text saying 12,739 EE reward points are about to expire in three days, pause," advised cybersecurity experts from Bitedefender. They further emphasized that "that message is likely a scam."
Several customers have shared experiences of receiving suspicious texts that appeared to link to a legitimate EE website. One customer recounted, "This morning I received a text regarding my rewards. I followed the link to what looked like a very genuine EE website. Please be careful." Another reported, "In a moment of stupidity, I opened a text message link and put in my phone number on an EE points rewards scam text. I realised immediately after and closed the website."
EE has not yet released an official statement regarding this alarming trend, but customers are strongly encouraged to avoid clicking on any links from unexpected messages and to verify their accounts directly through official channels.
