Developer's Bitcoin Fork Proposal and Satoshi Coin Redistribution Draws Community Outcry

# Developer Proposes Bitcoin Fork and Redistribution of Satoshi’s Coins, Sparking Outrage
A prominent cryptocurrency developer has proposed a controversial plan to fork the Bitcoin blockchain and redistribute coins attributed to the pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto. The initiative has met with fierce backlash from the Bitcoin community, with many labeling the move as an outright theft.
The proposal suggests that anyone holding 4.19 BTC at the time of the fork would receive an equivalent 4.19 eCash, which they could then choose to sell, keep, or ignore altogether. This plan aims to redistribute what some advocates believe are lost or inaccessible coins back into circulation.
Critics argue that claiming Satoshi's coins is not only a theft but also a profound disrespect to the legacy of Bitcoin. "Taking Satoshi coins is theft and disrespectful," asserted Bitcoin advocate Peter McCormack. He also noted that eCash has already been integrated into Lightning payments via Cashu and Fedi, branding the choices made by developers as misguided.
Ellithorpe, another vocal opponent, expressed concerns about the potential long-term consequences of this fork. "eCash is setting the precedent that they can and will steal coins. Now it's Satoshi, but it could be anyone later," he warned. He also highlighted issues surrounding the lack of replay protection and the potential misrepresentation of the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) fork, raising alarms about the integrity of existing projects.
The developer's proposal has created a deep divide, with many community members calling for clarity and direct action against what they see as an infringement on Bitcoin's foundational principles.
