# 7 Conditions Pharmacists Can Treat Instead of Waiting for a GP - Full List

NHS England reports that there are seven common health issues pharmacists can assist with directly. Patients can receive treatment without needing to see a GP first.

Pharmacies offer a convenient option for those suffering from certain conditions. Instead of waiting for a GP appointment, individuals can seek help from their local pharmacy team. "Your pharmacist can provide treatment or some prescription medicine, if needed, for seven common conditions - without you seeing a GP," said the NHS in a post to X.

It’s important to know that patients can access treatment by simply visiting a pharmacy or contacting one virtually. GP receptionists, NHS 111, and emergency care providers can also guide patients to pharmacies that provide this service.

Here is the full list of seven conditions that pharmacists can treat:

- Allergies

- Conjunctivitis

- Coughs

- Cystitis

- Diarrhoea

- Indigestion

- Minor skin conditions

Health officials remind the public that calling 999 does not guarantee an ambulance will be dispatched. "You might be told it's safe for you to make your own way to A&E, or to be seen elsewhere," emphasizing the importance of using available resources wisely.

By utilizing pharmacy services, patients can get timely help for minor ailments and avoid unnecessary GP visits.
